Michaelz1234:

Doesn’t this ruin the whole point of individual servers banning people?

goomba456:

Imagine anarchy servers... I can see people making hacked clients to report every message sent for every reason already... I feel like the power should be independently with the admin unless it's Mojang's own server.

Shenkowicz:

I think it's no surprise now why they implemented the transition of accounts from Mojang to Microsoft.

"Better security purposes"

MolWasTaken:

Wait so does this mean you can't join any third party servers like hypixel or your own server?

YoUeAtMyBaNaNa:

This system defeats the purpose of Minecraft multiplayer entirely. If Microsoft is going to make US pay to host OUR servers, then they can keep their corporate noses out of our business. It should be solely up to the moderator(s) of the server to decide who gets banned.

Wolfman01a:

They can ban you from your private servers now too.

TetonicNitro:

I saw this coming the moment the realms profanity filter feature was introduced.

It very much seems like it could be heavily abused, and it honestly seems like a MASSIVE overreach on Microsoft's part. For now, individual servers might be able to disable it, but I don't know if this will stay forever.

Most of the details behind it are being hidden, so..

Personally, I will only be playing on servers/versions this is disabled on entirely playing online. So, basically no 1.19+ personally.

dearthclaw:

No cursing on my Christian minecraft server

The details of the Minecraft 1.19.1 pre-release (opens in new tab) have been revealed and Mojang is cracking down on reported players. According to the patch notes, the pre-release contains a new UI for those who violate the Minecraft's community standards and receive a ban from playing. According to the developers, reported players can now be banned from online play and Realms after moderator review.

When booting up the pre-release - which is set to launch on Tuesday, June 28 - players who have been reported will see a notice screen that tells them that they have been banned from online play. The screen will also display the reasoning for the player’s ban as well as how long the ban is valid for.
